Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety: First Day Box Office Performance

Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety Box Office Collection has been taken by storm with the release. The film, starring the Pyar Ka Punchnama cast, was expected to have a bumper opening of Rs 4.25 crores. However, it has superseded that with collections of around Rs 7 crores. This exceeding well performance of the Luv Ranjan film might turn out to be bad news for Welcome to New York which also released on February 23.

With the theme of Bromance, romance, misogyny and recreated rap numbers and twerking packed together, Luv Ranjan  Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety has appealed to the masses and to both the sexes. Though the content and even the underlying theme is very similar to Luv Ranjan’s Pyar Ka Punchnama series, it has connected well with the audience, dealing with their own complexities at love.

Trade analysts have also credited the music of the film with its success. Yo Yo Honey Singh’s Dil Chori and Bom Diggy recreation worked well in the film’s favor with the favored mix of raunchy moves and party songs. By the end of the weekend, the film might stand anywhere between 15 crores if the audiences keep thronging the theatres.
This might come as a boon to the Bollywood business which was slacking post-Padmaavat. The last two releases Aiyaary and PadMan could not do much for the business. The only competition the film has is with Marvel’s Black Panther which is breaking records worldwide. However, since both these films are youth-centric there is a high chance that it will be a huge business with both films.

However, the opening for Welcome to New York has been quite dismal. It is remarkable since Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety contains no superstars while the former does. Seems content is the king when it comes to all movies, regardless of the cast.
