Padmaavat’s Khalibali song is the new Khilji anthem : Ranveer Singh plays Satan incarnate!

If there`s one thing that you absolutely cannot miss out on the entire movie is Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji. Playing a ruthless emperor, the character has a vile yet elusive charm. Wrapped in magnetism and power, this sweet nemesis is Satan incarnate himself, who seems to bring out the most demonic fascinations of which you will be guilty and aroused.

The movie released the rest of its music score on 23rd January, two days prior to its worldwide and much-awaited release. Khalibali  song Of Padmaavat  has especially caught our attention.

The song features the savage sultan dancing and merrymaking in the most carnal way, with his troops. A restless Alauddin Khilji eagerly awaits the arrival of  Padmavati and orders a celebration. Reason? Sultan is lust-smitten. It is not one of those Sooraj Barjatya celebrations you are expecting. The song is a perfect macabre and has a close resemblance to Disney`s 1934 Goddess of Spring. The devil dancing with his reapers of death.

The insanity and energy of the song make one wonder if the entire song is a VFX. Ranveer`s dance steps coupled with the chorus singing "Qalbiya qaiss wallah" relentlessly, would strip away the last of hopes from their enemies. Such is the darkness of the song. Not a bad one though. Shivam Pathak and  Shail Hada have voiced the emperor`s feelings and  A M Turaz has penned down the lyrics.

The songs end with the Sultan being brutally attacked by `someone` and is fatally wounded. Does he make it through? Well, I guess we cannot give away ant more spoofs.

When asked about playing an anti-hero Ranveer said, "I felt if I had to play negative, it had to be with Mr. Bhansali. Also, I cannot say no to him. If I have any standing, it’s because of his films. He gave me Goliyon Ki Raasleela - Ram-Leela; at a time when my career wasn’t going great guns. He had me play Bajirao in Bajirao Mastani, a character that was ahead of my years. I’m indebted to him as an artiste. He has pushed my boundaries and got the best out of me."

The movie released worldwide on 25th January and stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in the lead. It has been receiving a positive response from the crowd and we wish team Padmaavat the best of luck!
